New Play About Impact of Teens and Social Media at La Mirada Theatre, One Day Only: May 18
Real Teens. Real Stories. Real Impact

#TheSocialMediaPlay will debut May 18 at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts

Phantom Projects Theatre Group will celebrate the World Premiere of its newest play, #TheSocialMediaPlay, inspired by real-life tragedy wrought upon young adults, and detailing the tumultuous relationship between cause and effect of social media usage in today’s unfiltered world.

#TheSocialMediaPlay will be performed at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, May 18th at 9:30am, 12:30pm & 7pm. The production is written by Bruce Gevirtzman and directed by Steve Cisneros. Tickets are now on sale at www.PhantomProjects.com or www.LaMiradaTheatre.com or 562-944-9801.

As the landscape of digital communication has altered the way in which the youth of today interact with one another, it was only a matter of time before digital platforms were utilized for bullying and other forms of harassment. #TheSocialMediaPlay shines a light on the emotional turmoil caused by cyberbullying; a new method of perpetuating one of the oldest teen issues known to society. As a result, youth suicide rates tied to this type of behavior, are at an all time high.

The themes included in #TheSocialMediaPlay include real-life stories picked right out of the ashes of the tragedy; depicting actual accounts involving teens ripped from today’s headlines. This show focuses heavily on short term actions which levy very long term consequences.

Phantom Projects Theatre Group has consistently written and produced shows for young adults; PERFORMED by young adults. Such is the long-standing mission statement of an organization which seeks to provide a platform for interactive education. Known also for producing a score of additional shows, featuring adult actors; the shows featuring teen actors dealing with teen themes have become a true staple of this organization.

Phantom Projects Theatre Group co-founder, and show director Steve Cisneros began this theatre company while a teenager, specifically because at the time of inception, there were virtually no theatre organizations geared specifically to inspiring and educating people his own age, through the eyes of peers. Even 26 years later, the old-fashioned means of communication through theatre arts still finds its place within the youth community. Since 1997, Phantom Projects Theatre Group has seen nearly a thousand young actors perform for almost one million teens.

This show features an all youth cast: Noa Levy (17), Sean Ower (17), Nikolas Ramos (14), Julianna Rossi (18), Collin Higgins (15), Emma Imes (17), Krista Eliot (21), Sarah Ullerich (15), Sarah Morgan (17), Miles Peters (17), Samuel Perez (13), Sophia Glover (16), Alexis Gonzalez (15), & Baird Kraynak (15). The teen performers come from LA, Orange, and Riverside Counties.

Talk Show Host Harvey Brownstone to Make US Debut by Holding Event at NYC’s Stonewall Inn on June 5

Talk Show Host Harvey Brownstone to Make US Debut by Holding Event at NYC’s Stonewall Inn on June 5

NYC Pride Month Launched at the Historic Stonewall Inn With Discussion, Song

Canadian author and talk show host Harvey Brownstone will be making his official debut in the US by holding an event on Monday, June 5 from 5-9 p.m. at New York City’s historic Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of LGBTQ Liberation, for an in-depth discussion about his life, careers, and his “Interviews” program.

Just Who is Harvey Brownstone?

For the many residing south of Niagara’s Rainbow Bridge, the celebrity host with an audience of five million+ may not be immediately recognizable, but his legend and impact are unmistakable. The former Canadian judge — that nation’s first openly gay jurist — made history by marrying countless same-sex couples, earning a 2008 Proclamation by New York State Senator Tom Duane. Most notably, Brownstone officiated at the ceremony of Edie Windsor whose union triggered the Supreme Court litigation ushering in legal marriage for LGBTQ people across the U.S.

During his years on the bench, Brownstone also became a best-selling author with the groundbreaking “Tug of War: A Judge’s Verdict on Separation, Custody Battles and the Bitter Realities of Family Court,” leading to numerous appearances in media, but his lifelong desire to host celebrated actors and writers became a reality only following retirement from law. Since its debut in 2021, “Harvey Brownstone Interviews” has counted Louis Gossett Jr., Linda Evans, Sir Tim Rice, Robert Wagner, Louise Sorel, Ruta Lee, and even the elusive 93-year-old Mamie van Doren among his notable guests. The show is broadcast globally on Brownstone’s own YouTube channel as well as XPTV1 throughout the U.K., among other sources. Honoring the show, the Breakfast at Dominique’s fair trade, environmentally friendly coffee company will premiere its “Talk Show Blend,” suited to Brownstone’s specific taste.

Most recently, Grammy-nominated songwriter Harriet Schock (“Ain’t No Way to Treat a Lady”), moved by Brownstone’s “coming out” story, composed “I Am Yours,” a soon-to-be released single by vocalist Gary Lynn Floyd. The event at the Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of LGBTQ Liberation, will anchor Brownstone’s New York City debut with in-depth discussion about his life, careers, and his “Interviews” program. Floyd will fly in to perform “I Am Yours” among other selections, and award-winning mixologist Maria Gentile will be crafting her own version of the Harvey Wallbanger, and further favorite libations.

LA DOLCE VITA: A Night of Awakening Creativity

It’s time to wake up and remember to play.

Join S.H.I.N.E. Networking Inc. for A Night of Awakening Creativity guided by author Meg Nocero of The Magical Guide to Bliss and Butterfly Awakens, “A Happying Event” meant to inspire guests to awaken to La Dolce Vita and come alive to the beauty of dreams while remembering to play. This event will take place at the Books & Books in Coral Gables, Florida, on May 5, 2023, at 7 p.m.

When Miami resident Meg Nocero lost her mother to breast cancer, she found grief a force to be reckoned with, one that shifted her priorities from a successful but demanding career as an immigration attorney for the federal government to focus on her physical and mental health and find her bliss. Nocero created a guide, The Magical Guide to Bliss, seven years ago. After she followed it, she wrote Butterfly Awakens: A Memoir of Transformation Through Grief ($18.95, She Writes Press, September 2021), a unique story of what she discovered during this journey that brings readers through the grief process, her rejection of a toxic work environment, struggles with a medical diagnosis and a determination to place her faith in intuition. Nocero invites everyone to come along and come alive to the beauty of life and, of course, there will be dancing.

Under Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar of the Happiness Studies Academy, Nocero studied the science of happiness and created this “Happying Event,” a presentation based on the S.P.I.R.E. elements of whole-being happiness: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, & Emotional.

In that respect, S.H.I.N.E. Networking Inc. is pleased to host international painting artist Hector Prado, who will do a live painting. In addition, music artists Jon Saxx, Ava Simone, and DJ Lawrence Newberg will be performing. Dr. Ceci Shaw, author of “The Spell” and Quantum Energy Medicine Practitioner; Mike Zubi, lead instructor at Rode and motivational guru; and David Landau, editor extraordinaire, will present as well. It will be a night full of creativity, music, and dancing.

S.H.I.N.E. Networking and Meg Nocero are excited to invite everyone for an evening of magical inspiration. Enjoy the lite bites and BUTTERFLY drinks and PLAY. Meet the creatives and get inspired to begin your own journey. The Board of S.H.I.N.E. Networking Inc. will also present the 2023 Inspiration Award to actor and director Miguel Luciano for his role as teacher and director with the kids in Miami for over 15 years.
